GreenPalm Trading Application Demo GreenPalm Sustainable Palm Oil Petition Join the GreenPalm Programme

GreenPalm grows French membership

GreenPalm is gathering momentum as we head towards our millionth certificate trade, with more familiar names backing our drive for sustainable palm oil.

French businesses join GreenPalm

You may have seen international headlines about global retailer Carrefour joining GreenPalm as part of its focus on responsible sourcing. Buying GreenPalm certificates will enable the French business, which operates in 29 countries, to support sustainable palm oil production at its source, while Carrefour’s suppliers go through the process of changing to sustainable palm oil in their products.

Confectionery ingredients supplier Unipatis is another high-profile business to join GreenPalm. Based in France, the company makes and refines patisserie ingredients for the catering and foodservice sectors. Many of the ingredients used in confectionery, desserts and baked goods contain oil or derivatives from the palm fruit or kernel, so this is a sector with a huge part to play in the drive towards sustainable palm oil.

We’re also very pleased to announce that French edible oils supplier Alva SAS has joined GreenPalm. Alva SAS is a key player in the food production industry, producing and supplying ingredients found in many products available in French supermarkets, from cakes, bread and biscuits, to desserts, ready meals and charcuterie.

It’s exciting to see support for sustainable palm oil production grow into new markets, and we’re optimistic that more European retailers and manufacturers will soon follow the lead of these pioneering businesses.

It’s showtime again

Next month we’ll be appearing in a show in Las Vegas! To be precise, it’s the International Baking Industry Exposition – or IBIE – from September 26-29 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Visitors can find GreenPalm at booth 9650 and as this will coincide with our second anniversary of trading we hope to have plenty of exciting milestones, news and achievements to share with the international baking industry. More details about the show are here: http://www.ibie2010.com – I hope to see you there!

From Nevada, our next stop will be international food show SIAL 2010 in Paris, France, from October 17-21. Making the most of our growing membership in France, we’ll be there to meet more leading names in the world of food production, food technology and retailing. Our booth number is 2L22 – if you’re going to be attending, please come and say hello.

Nice to tweet you

Don’t forget to follow @greenpalmoil on Twitter, where we’ve met many friends from around the world with an interest in palm oil and associated issues. One of our favourite tweeps, @JohnMinaryPhoto, is in Borneo right now, where as part of his travels he’s taking pictures of palm oil plantations and meeting people who work there, to find out more first-hand about how sustainable palm oil production is expanding – and to help us learn more about how we can continue to support responsible producers. John is keeping a blog where you can see some of his beautiful photographs from Borneo –  http://borneo2010photolog.blogspot.com/ - including some wonderful close-up shots of orang utans!

If you use Twitter and have some news to share or any questions to ask us, please send us a tweet or direct message. And if we’re not following you but you think we ought to, please also get in touch!
