The first palm oil mill was certified by the RSPO in August 2008. A week later GreenPalm oversaw the first certificates traded representing that certified palm production. From that moment on GreenPalm has made an important contribution to the global drive towards the support of certified sustainable palm oil production.

As of the 1st January 2017 GreenPalm will no longer be endorsed by the RSPO to run the certificate / credit trading supply chain option, as indicated by today’s RSPO announcement. However, we can confirm we will continue to operate GreenPalm in 2017 and continue to support the work of the RSPO.

The combined result of Felda’s decision to voluntarily withdraw its own RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) certification, and IOI’s certification suspension by the RSPO, will be to reduce the global supply of certified sustainable palm oil (CSPO) by 2.5 million tonnes – 18.5% of the total.
