When the RSPO standards were agree in 2007 it was decided that they would be reviewed within 5 years. The Executive Board of the RSPO believes that the Principles & Criteria remain relevant and needed but they can be made more effective. This document outlines how stakeholders will be able to contribute to this review.

Beginning with the 2012-13 cookie selling season, each box of Girl Scout cookies will include a GreenPalm logo as a symbol of Girl Scouts' commitment to address concerns about palm oil production. The Girl Scouts also will purchase GreenPalm certificates, which offer a premium price to palm oil producers who are operating within the environmental and social guidelines set by the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil.

EU food and drink makers need to incentivise suppliers to continue producing RSPO approved sustainable palm oil options or risk undermining efforts to boost a segregated supply chain, claims book-and-claim scheme provider GreenPalm. The organisation behind the palm oil certificate-trading programme stressed that despite calls from consumers and the industry for an increase in supply, less than half the RSPO (Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil) certified sustainable palm oil produced to date has been bought.

The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) supports the Dutch Product Board for Margarine, Fats and Oils (MVO) in its call on behalf of Dutch Oil and Fats sector, for the European Union (EU) to abolish the import duty on RSPO’s Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO).

GreenPalm will be attending the three day food sustainability event, speaking slot on the 20th at 13.45 - Assuring Supply Of Sustainable Palm Oil Seminar. Excellent line up of speakers over the three days, should be an informative and worth while event to attend. 20th - 22nd of September 2011, Cavendish Hotel, London.

Back in April GreenPalm called on the personal care and cosmetic industry to take a stance and join the likes of Avon, Oriflame and Johnson & Johnson in pledging their support for the production of sustainable palm oil.
